The story
The Anchor in Gunthorpe is, without question, the busiest family pub in the East Midlands, with capacity for up to 1,000 guests across its indoor and outdoor spaces. A venue on that scale needed a network and AV system that could work as hard as the pub itself: every screen showing the match a table asked for, sound that carried properly across a room this size, and Wi-Fi that held up under a full house.

The brief came with a hard deadline. With opening day fixed and no flexibility in the timescale, the entire system had to be designed, installed and working in two weeks.

The Process
A project this size, on a deadline this tight, only works with everything planned before a single cable is run. Our design team mapped the whole venue in advance, indoors and out, so the installation itself became a matter of execution rather than problem-solving on site.
The Solution
A commercial SkyQ satellite system feeds sixteen televisions, each capable of showing a different receiver, so every match a table wants to watch is on a screen somewhere in the venue at once. A 3m wide dvLED screen anchors the main space for the games that draw a crowd.

Sound is handled by K-array across nine zones, tuned so a venue built for 1,000 people stays clear and balanced rather than becoming a wall of noise. The whole system – screens, sound and satellite – is run from a custom touchscreen interface built specifically for how the venue’s team actually works. Underpinning it all is Wi-Fi engineered to cover the pub fully, inside and out, so it holds up under a packed house rather than buckling under it.
