Overview

Trusted Technology designs and installs the smart home, cinema and entertainment systems behind some of the finest homes in the country. We work in the prime residential space, typically in £2m to £20m homes across the East Midlands. We are a CEDIA member working with Control4, Crestron and Lutron, and we run our own employed engineers rather than subcontracting our reputation out.

We are growing fast, and we have just opened Our Place, a 20,000 square foot experience centre unlike anything else in our industry. We are not the biggest. We intend to be the best.

The Role

We're looking for a Designer to take ownership of the design side of our projects, from first client brief through to system design, specification and handover to the install team. This isn't a role for someone who wants the brief handed to them and to switch off once the drawing's sent. We want someone who treats the project as theirs: who chases the detail, flags problems before they get expensive, and takes pride in what the client actually sees and lives with.

It's a busy, hands-on environment. We're a small team without a back office to disappear into, so you'll be running several live projects at once, in the room with clients as often as at a screen. If that sounds chaotic, this isn't for you. If it sounds like a place where your work is actually seen and matters, keep reading.

You will report to our Design Director and work closely with our install team to make sure what you design is what actually gets built.

What You Will Do

  • Meet clients on site to understand their brief, space and budget, and turn that into a workable, buildable design.

  • Produce detailed design drawings, technical specifications and equipment schedules for smart home, cinema and security projects.

  • Build 3D visuals in SketchUp so clients can see the finished space before a single cable goes in.

  • Select and spec the right equipment for each project, balancing what the client wants against what the budget and space can deliver.

  • Stay involved after handover, supporting the install team when something on site doesn't match the plan.

  • Run several projects at once, at different stages, and know what needs your attention today versus what can wait.

  • Keep across new products and technology in home automation and AV so our designs stay current.

Who You Are

  • You take real ownership of your projects, start to finish — not just to the point the drawing's sent.

  • You're confident working in SketchUp and comfortable producing renders that sell the vision, not just spec sheets.

  • Experience in AV, home cinema or smart home design is ideal, and AutoCAD experience is a must.

  • Knowledge of control systems such as Control4, Crestron, Lutron or KNX is a bonus, not a requirement.

  • You're comfortable in front of clients and own that relationship through a project.

  • You're positive, reliable and motivated by getting the job done well — not by watching the clock.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary, reviewed as you grow with us.

  • A genuine seat in a small, ambitious team as we rebuild and grow.

  • Real input into how we design and deliver, not just a seat at the back of an established machine.

  • The best demonstration environment in the industry to work from.

How to Apply

Send your CV along with 3 examples of your SketchUp or 3D render work, and an AutoCAD example of a schematic or floor plan layout, to andy.bell@trustedtechnology.co.uk.
